Couples Counseling (also known as Couples Therapy or Relationship Counseling) focuses on the dynamics between two (or more!) people in a committed, long-term relationship. I work with couples of diverse backgrounds and circumstances, including interracial, mixed-orientation, and interfaith couples. I specialize in affirmative therapy for poly- or non-monogamous relationships and LGBTQ+ couples.
Topics for couples counseling include:
- sexual infidelity and emotional affairs
- improving communication
- increasing intimacy
- reducing conflicts and arguments
- talking about sex
- whether or not to have children
- breaking-up or staying together
- pre-marital counseling
Relationships are work! However, it’s the kind of work that should feel good at the end of the day. In order to help you work well together, we focus on your individual strengths and nurture the good in your relationship.
Couples counseling is not about placing blame. Instead, it’s about allowing each person to have their perspective and understanding the impact you have on your partner. As a result, we create space for each person’s point of view to be expressed and for each person’s needs to be met or accommodated.
I offer a free 20-minute phone or video consultation for couples. Be sure that you and your partner are both able to attend. It is important that we all meet and decide if we can work together. In addition, you will be able to ask me any questions that you may have.
