Couples Counseling (also known as Couples Therapy or Relationship Counseling) usually focuses on the dynamics between two (or more!) people in a committed, long-term relationship. A relationship is like a dance – only the people doing it know the steps – and it’s my role as a couples therapist to help you get on the same rhythm. People seek couples counseling for many reasons including wanting to improve communication, reduce conflict/arguments, to talk about sex, parenting or having children, or to decide whether or not to break-up or stay together. I work with couples of diverse backgrounds and circumstances, as well as people in poly- or non-monogamous relationships.
I offer a free, in-person consultation for couples. When you schedule this consultation, be sure that you and your partner are both able to attend. It is important that we all meet and decide if we can work together. The consultation is scheduled for 50 minutes, during which I will meet with you separately and together. You will also be able to ask me any questions that you may have.
If you come to couples counseling with me, we will begin by meeting once per week in-person for 50-minutes. We may decide that you will come more or less frequently depending on your situation.
